My life revolves around dogs, mostly. I volunteer at Fuzzy Friends Rescue, the Humane Society of Central Texas, Pet Circle Regional Animal Center, Akita Rescue of Northwestern PA and Austin Boxer Rescue. I also put together the PawSafe Fall Festival held at Amsler Park in McGregor.
I received my ABCDT certification from Animal Behavior College. I am a member of the Pet Professionals Guild, which is a force-free organization. I am an active member of the Waco Animal Coalition that provides resources to the Waco community to help those in need for their pets. I am certified by the American Kennel Club to teach and test for Canine Good Citizen and S.T.A.R. Puppy Program. I am also a certified Dog Bite Prevention Educator and Pet Dog Ambassador Assessor. I hold certificates in Pet First Aid and Dog Aggression. I believe in learning as much as I can to help my clients the best I can.
In 2023, I was able to make dog training my full-time job. Prior to that, I worked as the sales admin for Versalift, a company that builds aerial lifts for bucket trucks. I worked as the office manager for a local IT company and an administrative assistant for a local accounting firm. When I have time, I am involved in a local theater; the Brazos Theatre. I help there doing everything from concessions, to being stage manager to acting in murder mysteries and plays.
I am Kim Jukes, owner and certified dog trainer at People & Pups, LLC. I live in Waco, Texas with my husband, Scott and our four dogs, Joy (Boston Terrier, Chihuahua mix), Trinny (Lab, Great Pyrenees mix), Loki (Boxer mix) and Ellie (Chihuahua). Our sweet Emmy (Chihuahua mix), Hayley (Jack Russell Terrier) and Heather (Great Dane, Pyrenees mix) crossed the rainbow bridge and are some of the inspirations for my becoming a dog trainer.
